Detection of non-metal pipes

Non-metallic pipes can be located with a standard pipe & cable locator if the Fiberglass rod can be inserted into the pipe in question. The rod is equipped with a copper strand core. The rod can be energized by a pipeline locating system such as FERROPHON^® or UtiliTrac^® or any brand of electromagnetic pipe  & cable locator using a generator/transmitter. Then the rod and subsequently the pipe or tubing can then be detected using a receiver. In this way, the path of the pipe in question can be determined quickly and exactly along the entire rod insertion.

Works with Water, Sewer, Stormwater, Gas tubing, or other non-metallic pipe, tubing, and ducts. Locate any non-metallic pipe or tubing including:

Buy one to use with drinking water systems, and another to use with sanitary or storm sewer systems. 

How it works:

Your transmitter/generator is connected to the hub of the reel. The copper core carries the traceable signal down the entire length of the rod. The fiberglass coating maintains stiffness for pushing, as well as insulates the copper to reduce signal bleed off until it reaches the end of the rod. The brass ball tip helps push around bends and provides grounding at the end of the rod.  the threaded ball end can be removed to attach a sonde transmitter for precisely locating the end of the rod to detect the exact location of a blockage, closed valve, or tee.  

Options (special order):

The optional mini pig transmitter is used for precise determination of the end of the glass fiber rod. This small, battery-operated transmitter generates its own field, which is detected precisely by a receiver. The exact depth can also be measured. The mini pig transmitter can also be used without a glass fiber rod. This makes a wide variety of uses with pipeline cleaning pigs, channel cameras, etc. possible!
